NEM Market Operations and Price Formation
A focused ten-topic sequence for analysts, commercial teams and engineers who need to explain dispatch and price outcomes.
PRACTITIONER PATHWAY · FREE PUBLIC BETA
Build on basic MW/MWh arithmetic and market vocabulary. Work from system architecture through bids, constraints, FCAS, settlement and event reconstruction.
All Academy topics remain free during this beta. This is the first programme being prepared for a future paid release; enrolment and payment are not open.
What you will practise
- Explain how bids, constraints, losses and FCAS interact in five-minute dispatch.
- Reproduce dispatch, marginal-price and energy–reserve calculations in explicitly simplified teaching cases.
- Read dated AEMO evidence and distinguish observations from a causal explanation.
- Separate rules in force from proposals and reviews.
Plan around each topic’s study estimate. There is no validated programme-hour total; optional source reading and data investigations take additional time. Reading time is not tracked and no CPD-hour statement is issued.
Study order and current assessment coverage
263 topic-specific questions across 10 topics. Each bank contains at least 25 items; the number used in an attempt is shown below.
Questions cover curriculum capabilities and include explanations. Independent technical review remains pending; these are practice assessments, not accredited examinations.
Applied brief
Finish with the NEM market suspension case. Prepare an evidence-led memo of no more than 800 words and a separate calculation workbook: your recommendation, three decision-driving numbers, one credible alternative, and the largest uncertainty with its owner and review trigger.
Use the four-part review standard: Accuracy, Traceability, Judgement and Communication. Aim for independent work on the first two and at least work with guidance on the other two. No reviewer submission or tutor marking is currently offered.
Before a paid release
Independent content review, operational support arrangements, approved purchase terms and the account/domain plan must be resolved first. Beta quiz passes are browser-local practice records, not a professional qualification.
